Raw Snickers Slice | Vegan Snickers Bars (Gluten-Free)

If you’re craving a Snickers bar then you’re going to love this guilt-free and wholesome Raw Vegan Snickers Slice recipe! It’s made of 3 simple layers that don’t require any technical candy making equipment or skills and will leave you feeling like you had a decadent sweet treat that’ll actually nourish your body!

While this healthy snickers recipe certainly got its inspiration from the commercial Snickers bar, the two are world’s apart in many ways. For starters, my homemade snickers bars are completely dairy-free, gluten-free, and don’t contain any processed sugar. They’re also rich in flavor without being rich in carbohydrates, making this an ideal dessert or sweet treat option for anyone on a low-carb diet.

Enjoy these no-bake snickers bars as an easy midweek dessert with a scoop of dairy-free ice cream or as a sweet treat whenever those candy bar cravings hit!

Raw Snickers Slice or Raw Snickers Bars?

The good news is that this vegan snickers recipe can be either!

To keep it as a healthy snickers slice simply complete all three layers while it’s still in the tray. Then you can cut it into any shape you like for serving!

Alternatively, to make vegan snickers bars, you can cut the base and nougat layer into bar shapes prior to drizzling with dark chocolate.

Ingredients

The ingredients list for this no-bake snickers slice is simple – only 7 are required! Unlike some other raw vegan snickers recipes, there are no dates needed either. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Almond Flour – you can make your own by processing whole raw almonds for a minute or two in your food processor or blender.
  • Maple Syrup – 100% pure maple syrup is best.
  • Coconut Oil
  • Dark Chocolate – either chips or solid. Either are fine, just make sure it’s vegan.
  • Peanut Butter – 100% peanuts, and smooth is best.
  • Roasted Peanuts – roasted brings a lovely flavor, but you can opt for raw if you prefer.
  • Salt

How to Make Homemade Snickers Bars or Slice

Start by assembling the base layer.

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the base layer together by hand.
  2. Transfer into a lined 8″ square tray and press down firmly into the base.
  3. Pop the tray into the freezer while making the nougat layer.

Then make the nougat layer.

  1. Whisk together the peanut butter, maple syrup, coconut oil & salt until smooth.
  2. Take the base layer out of the freezer, and pour the nougat layer on top. Spread it out evenly so the base is completely covered.
  3. Sprinkle the roasted peanuts over the nougat layer evenly.
  4. Pop it back into the freezer for 1 hour to set.

Chocolate layer.

  1. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together on the stove, or in the microwave for 45 seconds.

To make slices:

  1. Pour the chocolate layer on top of the nougat (once set). Pop back into the refrigerator for a few minutes before cutting into squares/slices.

To make bars:

  1. Cut the base & nougat mixture into 12 bars.
  2. Drizzle the chocolate over the top of the bars, it doesn’t have to be done evenly.
  3. Pop back into the refrigerator or freezer to set.

How Should I Store These Raw Snickers Bars?

Once you’ve sliced your vegan snickers bars and coated them in chocolate, you can transfer them to the refrigerator or freezer, depending on how hard you like them to be.

I don’t recommend storing them at room temperature, as the consistency could be a little soft & gooey (depending on the temperature of your home).

To store in the refrigerator, pop them in an airtight container lined with parchment paper. They’ll keep well for around 4-5 days.

To freeze, pop them into the freezer on a flat tray to flash freeze for about 2 hours. After that, you can wrap each slice individually with parchment paper and then store them in a Ziploc bag or an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month.

When ready to enjoy, leave them at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving (if you can wait that long!).

Healthy Snickers Recipe Variations

  • I’ve made a very simple base for these homemade snickers bars. Feel free to change things up by adding in some almond extract into the base or even making a chocolate base with cocoa powder.
  • If you have a peanut allergy, make the filling with almond or cashew nut butter and raw almonds or cashews instead of the peanut butter and roasted peanuts.

Tips for Making Raw Vegan Snickers

  • You’re going to find it much easier to add the different layers when each previous layer has had a turn in the freezer to harden and set. You can easily use the time it takes to prepare the following layer to chill the previous layer or wait a little longer between layers while doing other things.
  • These raw snickers slices defrost pretty quickly once removed from the freezer so it’s best not to let them sit out at room temperature for too long if you aren’t intending to serve them within 10-15 minutes of them sitting out.
  • I always recommend using high quality vegan chocolate for sweet treats especially when it comes to creating dessert bars and slices. The better quality the chocolate, the silkier the chocolate coating for that melt-in-your-mouth consistency.
  • These raw snickers slices are great commercial candy alternatives, made with wholesome ingredients. Serve them as a dessert, sweet treat, or as an after school snack.
