- 1 15-oz can chickpeas rinsed and drained
- ½ cup red onion finely diced
- ½ cup oats
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
Optional Toppings:
- Tomato slices
- Lettuce leaves
- Mustard
- Fresh cilantro
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the chickpeas in a medium bowl and mash with a potato masher until mostly broken down. A few whole chickpeas are fine.

Add the red onion and oats, then continue mashing.

Stir in the garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until the mixture is well combined and slightly sticky. If needed, add 1–2 tablespoons of water.

Shape the mixture into 4 patties and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes, flip, then bake for another 15 minutes until golden and firm.
Serve on buns with tomato, lettuce, mustard, and cilantro.
